Storybook: Hindu Creation Myths Topic Research

Vishnu on Wikipedia |
For my Storybook, I think I might do Hindu creation stories. I loved the idea that creation is a continual process and that there are an infinite number of possible universes. There are three important gods in the creation process that I have looked into for possible Storybook plots. Brahma is the creator of everything in the universe(s), Vishnu preserves these creations and looks over the good things in the worlds, and Shiva is the Destroyer who creates mandatory change.
If I were to do a Storybook on Brahma, I would focus mainly on his intentions for the earth. These would include why he created certain creatures, different sexes, certain emotions, and his intentions for his four main types of beings. These beings are gods, demons, ancestors, and men. I could write a chapter of my Storybook devoted to Brahma’s “birth” from the cosmic egg, as well as a chapter for each of the four beings. In each chapter, I would include various well-known myths of each type of being, such as the famous demon Churel who shape shifts and lures men to their deaths (link).
The trials of Vishnu would be relevant to the Ramayana, in which Vishnu divides himself into four different people in order to defeat Ravana. I would go into detail about the reasons why Vishnu sees good in the world and why he feels the need to sacrifice himself in order to save it. I would focus on his thoughts and beliefs, and research key stories, such as the Ramayana, attempting to give more insight into his character.
Shiva would probably be the most interesting god to do a storybook on, as he destroys things in order for change to occur. Destruction is usually thought of in negative terms, but since Shiva has good intentions, I would focus on his personality, his deeds, and their effects. He is described “to have untamed passion, which leads him to extremes in behaviour” (link). This energetic character could lead to adventurous plots for a Storybook.
Whichever god I choose to do a Storybook over, the other two are sure to still be vital characters.
