Week 8 Reading and Writing Review

I have enjoyed the Epics of India course, and I think that I am doing well, overall. I had intended to get ahead a little bit at the beginning of the semester. As I mentioned in the Reading and Writing post for Mythology and Folklore, as well, I work over 30 hours a week. My shifts usually begin at 4:30 a.m., and I am so much more tired than I thought I would be when I get home! So, I am managing to keep up with all of my coursework, but I have not done any extra credit assignments like I wanted to.
My favorite post from this course has been my story, The Unruly Cock. Since I decided to use this story as part of my Portfolio project, this is the tale that I have worked on the most for this course. Reading the comments from my peers has been very useful, and I have used them to make my story even better. I am proud that I have something to show for these two courses of Ms. Gibbs’.
I frequently refer back to my reading notes in the process of choosing which tale that I would like to write about. After that, however, I try to stay away from the story unless I need to look for a certain detail in it. Avoiding reading the story too closely when referring back to make my story choice forces me to write on my own, which helps me add my own creative voice to these tales.
Looking forward in this class, I am excited to perfect some of my other storytelling assignments and add them to my Portfolio project. I like the process of perfecting my stories, and I feel confident about them after I have had more than just one week to work on them. When I am done with these two courses, I plan on sharing these blogs that I have created with others. I never really considered that I could write stories until I was made to! So, this has been a nice push for me and a real growing experience.I chose the image of Sita in the Ramayana for this post because the Ramayana is one of the most important aspects of this class. Also, Sita is very pensive here, and I did not see enough of that side of her in the epic.
